Check out this article about a non-profit organization that specializes in helping veterans obtain medical care through the help of aviation!
Angel Flight Mid-Atlantic is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization made up of over 550 volunteer pilots that transport patients in need to specialized medical care. As a coordinating service, they utilize their resources by matching volunteer pilots to those individuals in need.
AFMA sponsors a similar flight service, Angel Airlines for Veterans. Another non-profit organization, Angel Airlines for Veterans’ mission is to ensure that no veteran in need is denied medical care due to a lack of long-distance transportation.
AA4Vets has served more than 55,000 patients with free travel to clinical care on the ground and in the air with gas cards, bus and train tickets, general aviation flights – Angel Flight, and with commercial airline tickets.
They provide transportation to clinical care and a variety of therapies:
- Medical treatment
- PTS/TBI treatment
- Rehabilitation
- Service dog acquisition
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
- Counseling
- Adaptive sports events
Through partnerships with major airlines, AA4Vets is able to provide airline tickets to treatment destinations.
“Thank you all. Because of you I was able to get treatment at the Pathway Home. You saved my life. God bless you all.”
